Our Vacation: The Beach!

Lincoln City, Oregon

There's not much I can say about this trip. We did nothing.
And it was wonderful.

Our condo is right behind her there.

Scooping her up and saving her from the waves.

She looks like she's running straight, but she was actually running sideways. Emmalee got scared and took off, losing her equilibrium and ran sideways until she fell and a wave came up over her. See Tylor laughing. She didn't find it very funny at all.

Bubbles!

Chasing the bubbles.
Playing with playdough
She reminds me of myself here.
The way her hair got wet and curled up just like mine used to.

Those little people way out there are Emmalee and Tylor.

Olives!

Our Vacation: Oregon Coast Aquarium

The Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, Oregon
The Oregon Coast Aquarium is dedicated to teaching marine wildlife and ocean preservation through responsible management and exhibition of marine life. See, touch, learn, and discover at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, an adventure you’ll never forget.

Oddworld Exhibit

Where it's OK to be weird! Decorated by colorful blown glass art.

Passages of the Deep

In an underwater adventure. visitors are immersed in Keiko’s former home through acrylic tunnels surrounded by several feet of sea water. Passages of the Deep has proven to be an unique attraction. As though they were taking a walk into the open ocean, visitors are able to come face to face with large sharks, rockfish and bat rays swimming above and below. Waves surging against the tunnel gives visitors the impression they are beneath the ocean. And the Oregon shipwreck resting on the bottom increases the feeling of being early undersea explorers.

Our Vacation: Grandparents in Grants Pass

It's always nice to visit with my Papa and Grandma, but it was true vacation when we saw them last week. Strolling around their nearly 3 acres of land with Emmalee brought back memories of the summers in my childhood when my brother and sister and I kept ourselves busy out there. Plus, me and Ty stayed in bed until 11am our first morning there! We also got to have dinner with my Uncle Lance and Aunt Peggy, who we always miss.

We spent some time throughout our visit watching funny videos that GreatPa dug up off the internet. If you haven't seen them yet, you've got to take the time to watch these!

Our Vacation: Wildlife Safari

We spent our 12 days off from work traveling down to Southern Oregon, visiting friends and family along the way, and then up along the Oregon Coast. After enduring my ten-year high school reunion, we drove through Wildlife Safari. As spectacular as it is to be able to drive along the 4.5 mile trek to see animals from Africa, Asia and the America’s, sadly, Wildlife Safari is just not what I remember it to be. I remember going when we were kids. The unique setting offered many opportunities to get up close and personal with animals large and small. They would lick your window, and might just climb up on your car if you stop for too long. However, now there are a lot less animals and many of them are locked behind fences (defeating the purpose of getting to drive around them and take photos from your vehicle). Perhaps it seemed like a dud this time around because it cost us $40. Or perhaps it seemed like a dud this time around because we are used to going to the Oregon Zoo in Portland for free. Either way, Emmalee got to experience it, we saw some animals, took a few photos, and were on our way.
