Depoe Bay Part 1: Saturday

It was Memorial Day Weekend, and it was also my mom's 50th birthday weekend. We always knew we would go do something special together as a family, so her three kids (and their spouses) rented a beach house for the weekend because there's nothing we love more than to spend time together (especially at the beach). Our house was in Depoe Bay (just south of Lincoln City, OR) and had a hot tub, ping pong table, and was just one flight of stairs from the sand!
Saturday was beautiful and sunny and warm. Sunday was cloudy and overcast, but still warm enough to spend plenty of time playing on the beach. Monday was a bit more cold and sprinkled from time to time. We didn't care, I felt blessed just to have a beautiful Saturday and have a good amount of time to play in the sand and water with Emmalee.

The first news of the trip was to find out that my mom got her nose pierced as a 50th birthday present.... On her 40th she got a toe ring tattooed on one of her toes, so now is the challenge to find a good body mutilation for her 60th...

The second big news we found out was that my little brother and his wife (Stephen and Rachel) are expecting their first baby. They are due around Emmalee and Sophie's birthday (Late December-Early January). All the women in our family are fertile in April! Here are some photos of our Papa and Grandma finding out the news. Check out the look on Emmalee's face. She doesn't even know what's going on, but she knows it's BIG!

Our first night at the beach...

Sticking my tongue in my brothers ear while he's sleeping.

There's nothing weird about that, right?

Hey Didi!
AWESOME pics! They were very fun to look at and you sure captured the great time everyone seemed to have had! And darnit, while I'm happy for your SIL, I was hoping the new baby announcement was going to be YOURS! :)
Love, Alyssa

Your Mom ROCKS! I love the nose piercing. I just turned 40 (in Feb) and my dd Sarah will be 15 this fall. We are going to go get our noses done together. I love the tiny stone in the corner!
What great time you all had.
