My 29th

Thank God for my little family. I have been blessed. I have more than I need.

My last year in my twenties... My 29th consisted of baking 7-layer bars, cookies, pizzas (most of which were burnt due to our very crappy oven) and lots more. I dragged Tylor to see Slumdog Millionnaire with me. I still want to see Revolutionary Road. Emmalee had a sleepover with her Grandma, Grandpa and little cousin Aiden. I think she had a blast, and we got to sleep in (past 10am! Eek!) I had a yummy brunch with friends and family which included the world's best biscuits and gravy, coffee and a mimosa. Too much food in one weekend, that's for sure! I finished A Thousand Splendid Suns and am about to start on My Sister's Keeper.

Emmalee argued that it wasn't my birthday because I didn't have a birthday cake, but when I tucked her into bed last night she sang Happy Birthday to me. That's all I needed.

I have a stack of birthday cards on the counter, a dozen birthday text messages on my phone and dozens more birthday wishes on my facebook. Thank you all.

PAJAMA DAY!

Today was Emmalee's first 'Pajama Day' at school, so I had to snap a shot. or two.

My Potatoes

Do you like a good baked potato? In the mood for some comfort food?

I made Bacon Ranch Potatoes last night - a recipe i've used for several years. This isn't a recipe you want to share at your next Weight Watchers meeting.

Ingredients
8 Large Red Potatoes
1 Cup Ranch Salad Dressing
1 Cup Sour Cream
1 Cup Cheddar Cheese, divided
1/4 Cup Crumbled Cooked Bacon
1 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350. Cut potatoes into quarters. Place in a large saucepan. Cover with water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Cook until tender, about 8 minutes; drain well.
Meanwhile, combine salad dressing, sour cream, 1/2 cup cheddar and bacon in a large bowl. Add potatoes and salt; stir well. Spoon potato and bacon mixture into a medium baking dish.
Top with remaining cheese.
Bake potatoes until bubbly, about 20 minutes.
Hope you like them.

Playday with Lori and Sophie

Emmalee's 'Auntie' came over with Sophie today, and I guess you just saw the photos.
: -)

Ouchie!

Our little girl took quite a fall at school yesterday, and scraped up her face real good. It happened shortly before I arrived to pick her up. She was very emotional about it, couldn't even talk about it without breaking down. It was hard not to break down myself seeing how upset she was!

If you know Emmalee at all, you know that she's pretty cautious, and takes after her dad (i.e. does not do anything that would put his/her life in danger). So this was one of very few booboo's we've had to experience. It seems she's "over it" now. She took the bandaid off her knee herself this morning.

a quick one, with the scrapes cleaned up a bit...
